What does this mean for education powerED?

• Culture = Language, Beliefs, Identity, Arts, Music, History, and Sports

• Education = Teaching, Learning, Curriculum, Management, Leadership

The Education system in America was constructed with the objective to maintain White supremacy economically, socially, politically, and intellectually. The perspectives, histories, and beliefs of whiteness are deliberately centered in all aspects schooling, while BIPOC culture is silenced and sidelined. An institution so acutely rooted in racism and oppression will not reform; it must be absolutely transformed. 

As a consequence of its influence over all sectors of society, the education system is incomparably positioned as the most ideal setting for realizing liberation. The chief cause of our revolution is to shift power to students, educators, and our community. Empowerment requires knowledge of self and community.
